It's really happening! We are proud to announce that the "Homewood Renaissance" has begun:
Our team plans to transform the 7200 block of Frankstown Avenue. An unfinished building in that block has been identified as the base of operations for the Homewood Renaissance. It will also serve as the permanent home for the fellowship activities and office needs of the House of Manna ministry, led by Reverend Eugene Blackwell and his wife, Dina.
The site is just two blocks from the intersection of Homewood and Frankstown Avenues, which possesses one the highest crime rates in Pennsylvania. By choosing this location we are signaling to residents, government entities, and potential funders that the Homewood Renaissance and its supporters are determined to reverse the loss of business in this area that followed the riots of 1968 following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
FISHER ARCHitecture has been selected to design the Center and coordinate the master plan development, Crossgates Inc. is representing the owners, and the Massaro Construction team will ably undertake construction.
