One of Pittsburgh’s most important remaining undeveloped private urban spaces!

We’re working on one of Pittsburgh’s most important remaining undeveloped private urban spaces, which is located on and around Rosetta Street in Garfield:  Our goal is to create a progressive, thoughtful project for owners Sam Hoffman and his wife Nicole Byrnes in the heart of Garfield on the side of a hill that, in their words, serves as a “green space, food source and community resource.”

Progressive, Thoughtful Design

Their plan is to grow between 75-150 dwarf fruit trees on the steep site, which is located just below an existing urban farm. They also plan to build a Rosetta Street barn/house and up to five affordable housing units that would be located one block down on Kincaid Street.

At this point we are considering LEED, WELL, and passive house standards for the buildings and site. The Greenfield Orchard will relate not only to the neighboring context but also to buildings being constructed all around the world.
